GOLDEN MILK

The adaptogenic almond milk gets an anti-inflammatory upgrade with this golden milk recipe.  Golden milk is a traditional Indian beverage, served warm in the evenings.  It is a nice addition to an evening “wind down” ritual, and gives a boost of pain-fighting anti-inflammatory compounds and is warming to the constitution.  The pepper contains piperine, a compound shown to increase the systemic absorption of turmeric’s active anti-inflammatory ingredient, curcumin.  Ancient wisdom for modern healing!

2 C adaptogenic almond milk (previous recipe), or coconut milk

¼ inch grated ginger root

½ inch grated turmeric root

1 pinch of pepper, or 3 whole peppercorns

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and stir. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.
