Starting points for your recovery
Do something different
Your routines, places you frequent, people you hang out with, and even physical items you surround yourself can all be altered to jumpstart your recovery. Whatever you do, don’t accept the status quo.
Reach out
Isolation is the enemy. You may want to be alone to process your feelings, but this will only lead to rumination and unproductive thinking. You need a community of supporters. I know it seems scary to open yourself up to others, but the risk will pay off. The meaningful relationships you crave are out there. Take the first step toward the hands that are already reaching out to you.
Plan
I want you to consider two types of plans for now: plans for triggers and plans for tomorrow. What will I do when I am triggered to self-harm? In this section we will explore possible plans for you. What is tomorrow going to look like for me? Forget one month from now, one year from now, or further. We will get to that of course, but not today. Let’s just start with tomorrow.
