do something different
What you’re doing now isn’t working. Plain and simple. Something’s gotta give. What are some things that you can change right now to make a difference today? The following are a few practical suggestions to jumpstart your recovery.
Disrupt your usual.
Always bringing the same peanut butter jelly sandwich for lunch? Make a ham and cheese instead. Take the same route to school? Do something as simple as walking on the other side of the street. Get out of the old habits that have been a part of your life so far.
Change a relationship.
You are not at the whim of others. You may feel like the other person is in control of your relationship, but they are not. You have choice. You can change the dynamics. Set boundaries. Stop following toxic people on social media. Refuse to be affected by someone else’s insults.
And don’t forget to cultivate positive relationships. If you decrease time in difficult relationships, but don’t replace it with time spent in healthy interactions, you run the risk of isolating. Spend time with people who encourage you in your road to recovery.
