Shadows hanging

The flickering of the light on the ceiling

Light bounces around

In the still of the night.

Soft breathing

Troubled thoughts

Wandering mind.

Lost in the darkness.

The rustle of the covers

The shifting of the bed.

Contemplation which replaces peaceful sleep

An owl hoots.

Crickets dance.

The low hum of the cars.

Indecision continues to swirl.

It swirls and whirls until palpitations ensue.

The shadows disappear

The palpitations slow

But the indecision remains.
